Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare and can not only lead you down a path of grief and sadness, but it can also lead you to your come to Jesus moment …
That’s exactly what happened to my guest on this week’s podcast, Granger Smith. In 2019, he and his wife Amber experienced something no parent should ever have to live through, and that’s the accidental drowning of their 4-year-old son River.
This traumatic experience caused Granger to not only evaluate his life and the way he was living, but it also brought him to the realization that his faith wasn’t authentic.
Since then, he’s put aside his successful country music career, dove deep into learning more about himself and his relationship with God, and used his tragedy to speak and preach to others about God.
His New York Times best-selling book, “Like A River,” chronicles not only his journey through pain and grief but the mission and purpose that God laid on his heart as a result.
I cried many times through this episode but am so grateful that Granger was willing to candidly share his story of how grief, loss, and despair can sometimes lead you in a direction of purpose you never could have imagined.
